What is iECM?
In 2003 AIIM, the international Enterprise Content Management Association, came up with a good definition of ECM:
"The technologies used to capture, manage, store, deliver, and preserve information to support business processes”
The well-known management consultant Dr Ulrich Kampffmeyer interpreted this definition in his article "ECM Enterprise Content Management – Definition, Components and Applications" dated 21 July 2004 as far as possible and described all conceivable aspects of ECM.
SER has added the prefix “i” to this abbreviation. The “i” stands for “integrated” and it makes all the difference! Only a fully integrated and integratable product system generates the functional, organisational and economic added value. The new technology concept supports the consolidation work undertaken in the IT departments and brings about a substantial reduction in operating costs and business process costs through simplification, homogeneity and consistency.
In terms of content, S.E.R. Solutions have expanded the definition for their DOXiS iECM Suite to include the classification and extraction of data – functions that are important for companies:
“DOXIS iECM is the universal software suite with integrated solutions, tools and methods for recording, classifying, extracting, managing, preserving, securing and distributing data, documents and information in the whole company for all business processes and across the entire life-cycle.”
By bundling the functions of capturing, inbound processing, electronic archiving, information life-cycle management, document management, workflow, business process management and knowledge management, substantial added value is achieved that is more than the sum of its parts. This added value relates in particular to the commercial requirements for increased productivity and profitability.
